Dear fellow ISBRA members,
It is time to elect a new ISBRA board for the 2018 - 2022 term.
Below you will find the names of individuals who have been nominated for this election. There are 10 Board of Director positions to be elected. When voting, you will need to cast 3 votes for members representing the European region, 3 votes for the Pan-Pacific region, and 4 votes for the Pan-American region. Please take a few moments to review the attached biographies and vote.
While a broad representation of our Affiliate Societies is assured by the Bylaws, the current board urges the membership to please consider gender equality when casting your vote.
Finally, we would like to thank all colleagues who agreed to run for a position on the next ISBRA board.
2018-2022 ISBRA Board of Directors’ Nomination Committee
The International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA) Bylaws state that:
"The property, interests, business, and affairs of the Society shall be managed by the Board of Directors… The Board shall consist of twelve (12) directors representing a minimum of six (6) different countries that are active in the field of biomedical research on alcoholism. Each Director shall be considered to represent the country of his or her birth or citizenship. Any member of the Society may be elected as a Director… The term of office of each Director shall be four (4) years. Each Director shall be eligible for re-election for a maximum of two (2) terms in addition to the initial term. Each Director elected shall hold office until his[/her] successor shall be elected and shall qualify."
In addition, the ISBRA Bylaws state that two individuals will automatically serve on the 2018-2022 Board of Directors: Tamara Phillips (USA), the Senior Vice President of the current (2014 - 2018) Board of Directors, is regarded as President-Elect, and remains on the new Board during her term as President, and Rainer Spanagel (Germany), the current President, also remains on the Board as the Immediate Past President.
